Post 56: Saturday 6/8 - Yanaka and Ueno!

Heading over to Yanaka after getting out of Nippori tran station.

Dude needs a truck.

Interesting buildings.

The haka or gravestones is what Yanaka is famous for. The buildings in the surrounding area are a cool mix of old and modern.

This makes me sad. It basically says that be aware there can be things stolen.

Old cigarette machine converted to sell お守り(charms). You can see it even says “Cigarettes” in English and there is a warning in Japanese telling you that kids are not allowed to purchase cigarettes.

Just some pictures from walking around the area and heading to Ueno by foot.

We’re here! I was super hungry, sick, and grumpy at this point. So we went for food.

Searching for food. We ended up eating at a Gusto Restaurant. I could not walk another step. I was so tired.

After eating, we went back to Ueno and the little shrine.

This is the place I got the charm for my friend. I also went back here after she passed away. She was only 39. Love you, Steph.

Some sort of celebration about to happen.

Ueno park. Not too many people.

Ueno station….because we are heading home.

I think we decided to head over to see where my husband used to work. And there was some sort of protest that was going on too. It was cool seeing all that.

And I went to bed, because I felt like shit. Tucker helped me out.
