Day 7: Autopilot

Here are a couple things that I pulled from today’s session. It was all about how emotions and how you treat yourself can be autopiloted like things such as breathing and writing with your strong hand.

REMEMBER: Take time every morning to visualize yourself in the future, every morning!

What Mel talks about in this session is that autopilot is part of a default mode network. This is like what hand you use to pick up a pen. The language you use. Unfortunately, thoughts work the same way. So if you think negative garbage, that will become a default.

So if you are grabbing your pen with your right hand….that is default. You can teach yourself to grab your pen with your left hand, but you have to understand that that is

A PROCESS NOT AN EVENT.

You have to direct your thoughts to do it. It will be hard at first…both for changing hands AND changing the patterns in your mind.

46.9% of the day you are in autopilot. This is ok for things like, grabbing a coffee, brushing your hair back, pulling on your jeans, but not good for things like negative thoughts such as, “I’m not worthy”, “I suck”, “I can’t do anything.” etc. etc. etc.

HOMEWORK

Go through the day and notice where my thoughts drift. Am I saying something that is really nasty to yourself.

If so, write down. What is your version of nasty? What is your default mode?

Mine is a fear of being forgotten. Athazagoraphobia.
