Post 29: Heading home to Japan

I woke up early, made breakfast and started cleaning up the AirBnB. I am ready to go home. I miss Tucker a whole lot.

It was a really cloudy day and rainy in Lausanne.

I grabbed all my stuff and got on the train to Lausanne. It was really rainy and cold. I needed to get some cash from the ATM and then get change to put into the locker for my stuff. It was supposed to be 9CHF…but it kept rejecting my 2CGF coins…so I had to give it 10CHF….fucking no change. Fuck you.

I walked over to the Starbucks to get some wifi and was able to get some things done. The Starbucks feels like they are bigger in Switzerland…but that just may be because less people go since they are going to other cafes. Chumps. lol.

Anyway, it got pretty rainy and it was colder, so I decided to just head over to the airport. I waited around for at least 3-4 hours before my time opened up to go through. I ended up going to the “French Sector” since I was flying into France and then to Japan. After checking my baggage in (I did my check in and paid for a better seat the night before), the lady told me it would go all the way back to Canada….I said, I am going to Japan…turns out the French have a problem saying Haneda….and she pronounced it Ha-na-da. I felt pretty bad and she was capitalizing on that feeling.

Anyway, went through security with no problem….and the flight was fine…slight turbulence.

In France, my gate was WAAAAAAAAAY the fuck out there. I felt like I was going to be walking to Japan. The Charles De Gaulle airport though, was quite nice. Anyway, got on the plane with no problem. Window seat. I have not really drank anything because I did not want to keep getting up and going to the bathroom.

The seat I was in was awkward, because I was in a row of three and the seats in front was a row of two so my tray was 1/3 in my neighbor’s seat.

They passed out these postcards with what was on the menu and what drinks they had. They had a whole list of drinks….now, I am in row 24. This is a huge plane with 50+ rows. They get to my row for drinks, I asked for a ginger ale. The stewardess said there was only Coke, Apple juice, Orange juice, and Tomato juice…..on an 11 hour flight. :|

When dinner came around, they had Chicken Au Juice and Beef Curry. I’m in row 24. They ran out of beef. Everyone had to have the chicken. I mean, the chicken was not bad….just sucks that Air France was so ill prepared. I flew KLM on the way there (which their food was really good). I will likely steer clear from Air France in the future if I can.

Anyway, got back to Japan, through the lines in Haneda, baggage, and onto the bus. From Shinjuku to my home, I decided to take a taxi. I did not want to walk with my luggage even though there was not that much.

All in all, it was a good trip. Not sure where I want to go next….either England or New Zealand.
